Ad deficio iactatus Proserpina ferebatur dolenter,
Enim membratim tornabat rapax Dis pater.
Laminary were eyes once converted, tearsome and irrident,
For their sickness of presumption swelled at form’s portent.
Sea-bearing Pretender, deluge’s gash and forceful coagulate,
A promise by thee is descanted as I am insensate.
To what profit do I receive thy mantle’s animation;
Diriment to self condign and fateful occasion;
Conjugate to the sinuous procession of volitions intent;
The head of Holofernes grasped by a nature lent?
As I die I reject thee; the dissimulate miens which to stages accede,
As Agamemnon’s reveries into oppression recede.
